On Friday, May 8, 2026, the DSAA held its annual Beneficiary Handover Ceremony at the UWI Open Campus Auditorium, and what a morning it was!

EC$2,000 to six outstanding Dominica State College students:
✅ Chakira Bramble — Nursing
✅ Reshander Henry — Paralegal Studies
✅ Kennan Mitchel — Business Administration
✅ Ajhani Nanthan — Auto Mechanics
✅ Jess Vidal — Primary Education
✅ Godisha Joseph — Pre-Health Certificate
These students are doing the work. They showed up. They pushed through. And they deserve every bit of this recognition.

EC$10,000 Community Impact Grants to:
💚 Lifeline Ministries Inc. provides emergency shelter, crisis counseling, and after-hours support (767-317-3030) for survivors of gender-based violence across Dominica.
💚 Anse Kouanari Tourism Association Inc. engages youth aged 12–25 in river conservation, cleanups, and environmental stewardship in Castle Bruce.
President Wayne Liburd said it best: “Every investment in our students and communities creates impact far beyond a single event or ceremony.”
None of this would be possible without our incredible sponsors and the support of everyone who comes out to White Sunset with a Hint of Creole year after year, now in its 5th consecutive year!

About the Community Social Impact Grant
The Dominica SiFoCol Alumni Association Community Social Impact Grant is dedicated to supporting and empowering local community organizations and non-profits in Dominica.
Annually, DSAA has an open application period where the local community, non-profits, etc. can apply for local grants. A committee of DSAA members and two independent non-DSAA community leaders reviews all applications. Three recipients are selected and are offered grant amounts approved by the board.
Additionally, DSAA assists needs-based students of Dominica State College, as identified by the college.
In the past, DSAA has supported college students, both at home in Dominica and on one of our neighboring islands, who have been impacted by natural disasters.
Through initiatives such as our Annual White Sunset Charity Event, we raise funds to support our local, financially strapped, and struggling non-profits, which rely largely on the generosity of the public for their operations.
